Sayadiyeh is one of the famous Lebanese dishes of wide fame. It is of Spanish origin. It was moved to us through Andalusia. It is famous for most of the coastal areas in Lebanon and Syria, because its main ingredient is fish. Sayadiyah consists of rice cooked with fish and onion broth.

Sayadiyeh with Rice

  1. Clean the fish well and season it with cumin, salt and saffron

  2. Fry it in oil for 5 minutes.

  3. In a cooking pot, put half a cup of oil and fry the onions with spices.

  4. Add the fish to the onions and fill the pot with water.

  5. Leave the pot until boiling.

  6. When the fish is cooked, remove it from the broth and keep it aside while the rice is cooking.

  7. In another pot, put the remaining amount of oil and add the rice.

  8. Cover the rice with the fish broth and onions, leave a little broth to make the sauce, and adjust the salt and spices to taste.

  9. When the rice boils, reduce the heat and cover it until cooked

  10. When it is cooked, we pour it into a serving dish and put the whole fish on top of the rice, or we get rid of the thistle and spread its meat over the rice.

prepare the sauce:

  1. In a saucepan and over a low heat, melt the butter, add the flour and mix well

  2. Add the rest of the fish broth and leave the mixture to boil and become thick.

  3. Adjust seasoning and salt according to taste.

  4. The sauce is served hot with rice, fish, some nuts and crunchy onion slices, thus we have prepared a luxurious and original Sayadiyah dish.
